How to choose
- Countries. Watch where you sell. US filings appear in the USPTO Gazette, UK filings in the UK IPO journal; since 2021 an EU trade mark no longer covers the UK.
- Words or logos. If your name is the brand, a watch of words covers it. If your logo is the brand, you need a watch of images too — we don’t do that yet.
- Why, not just what. A good report says why each mark is similar and in which classes, so you can skip the noise.
- The deadline. The window to oppose is short: 30 days in the US (more on request), 2 months in the UK. The service should count it for you and report weekly — a monthly report can use up most of a 30-day US window.
- Who reads the results. Software finds; a lawyer advises. If you have no lawyer, plan for one when something real comes up.
- The price for your marks and countries, per year.
When we are a good fit
- you sell in the US, the UK or both, under a name;
- you want to see look-alike filings with the reason and the deadline, and decide yourself when to call a lawyer.
When we are not
- you need the EU or other countries;
- your logo matters more than your name;
- you want someone to file the opposition for you — that is a law firm;
- you need fakes removed from marketplaces — that is brand protection.
