Where the data comes from

  • US: the USPTO Trademark Official Gazette, a PDF published every Tuesday. The issue of 20 October 2026 had 29,461 pages and 10,666 marks published for opposition.
  • UK: the UK IPO Trade Marks Journal, an XML file published every Friday. Issue 2026/042 had 3,641 marks.

Every entry is read into one format: the mark, its classes and goods, the owner, the publication date and the last day to oppose.

How a new mark is compared with yours

Your markNew markWhat the check says
HONEYBEEHONEY BEESame as your mark
KOOL KIDSCOOL KIDZSounds like your mark
QUICKKWIKSounds like your mark
WILD TRIBEWILDE TRIBESpelled almost like your mark
SOLSTICESOLSTICE SKIN COContains your mark
BLOOMBLOOMWELLYour mark inside a word

Made-up pairs; the last column is the reason our check gives for each.

  • Case, spaces and punctuation don’t matter: HONEY BEE is HONEYBEE.
  • Sound: each word is turned into a key for how it is said, so KWIK meets QUICK and COOL KIDZ meets KOOL KIDS.
  • Spelling: a mark a letter or so away from yours, like WILDE TRIBE for WILD TRIBE.
  • Inside: your mark as a word of a longer mark, or as the start of a longer word.
  • Articles and company forms — THE, AND, CO, LLC, LTD — never count.
  • Classes: give the Nice classes you sell in, and only marks in those classes are shown; leave them empty to see every class.

From this week’s issues

From the USPTO Official Gazette of Oct 20, 2026 and the UK Trade Marks Journal of Oct 23, 2026: a common word a brand might watch, and a new mark the check finds for it.

Updated with every issue. The owners are not named here; the free check and the official record show them. A mark that looks similar is not always a conflict.

What software can’t tell you

  • Whether two marks conflict. That is a legal question that turns on the goods, the market and how the marks are used. We show what looks similar; a trademark lawyer advises on what to do.
  • Meaning: a translation or a synonym of your mark is not matched.
  • Logos and marks without words are not compared yet; marks in other scripts are compared by their Latin part.
  • Offices other than the USPTO and the UK IPO.

Software or a law firm?

Software reads everything, every week, for little money; a law firm reads the matches and advises. The two work together: software to catch look-alikes early, a lawyer when one matters. See the comparison and the prices.
